The Senate of the Republic through the Congress Channel, signed an agreement in collaboration with the Mexican Institute of Cinematography (IMCINE) and the National Cinematheque to incorporate Mexican and international cinema into its programming with a total of 34 films, with the aim of “Guarantee the cultural rights of the entire population and encourage audiences in the country to increasingly access the seventh art through different exhibition windows, such as public television,” reads a statement issued by the Ministry of Culture.
The project was baptized as Cinema on the Congress Channel. A look with social commitment boasts a selection of 21 national productions and 13 foreign productions from countries such as France, Romania, Chile, Argentina, Spain, Australia, China and Guatemala.
“It is an urgent task for Mexican cinema to find its place in the public media, especially contemporary Mexican cinema, because it is a fundamental link to guarantee the right of all Mexican women and men to have access to their own cinema,” he said. the general director of IMCINE, María Novaro, during the signing of the agreement on April 15.

- Drawings against bullets (Alicia Calderón Torres, 2019)
