Monday May 1, Canal+ continues to broadcast its new ultra-realistic detective series “BRI”. Moreover, were the fictional characters created from the stories of real agents of the research and intervention brigade?
Immersion within the BRI continues on Canal+… This Monday, May 1, the encrypted channel is indeed continuing to broadcast season 1 of its new detective series from 9:09 p.m., with episodes 3 and 4. As a reminder, we delves here into the daily life of agents of the BRI of Versailles, the historic unit specializing in organized crime.
In the heart of the “BRI”…
Saïd (Sofian Khammes) takes the lead of a team made up of young elite cops who are as reckless as they are efficient. The former member of the special forces replaces Patrick (Bruno Todeschini), charismatic leader who built his police legend by collaborating for 20 years with Éric (Vincent Elbaz), leader of a Parisian underworld clan.
Saïd will have to find his place within his group while preventing a gang war from breaking out between Eric’s family and that of the El Hassani brothers. But it was without counting on Patrick, determined to return to the front of the stage if Saïd refuses to take sides in this settling of accounts which risks setting the capital ablaze…
Ultra realistic and very successful, the fiction features a band of determined heroes, embodied by a string of fresh and convincing actors. Besides, were the main protagonists of BRI created from real stories, experienced by agents?
Heroes inspired by real agents?
During a press conference, the co-creator of the series Jérémie Guez (with Erwan Augoyard) explained that he had been immersed with the real police officers of this specialized brigade but that “the characters’ stories are not inspired by real stories of BRI agents at all“
“I just wanted to take details from reality to infuse them into each of the characters.he continued. I am someone who works a lot on fiction. I think that as BRI is very centered, it’s not impossible that things will cross again but I work through ‘archetypes’ of thriller and I try to reshape and modernize them.“
Finally, Jérémie Guez concluded: “I have a great appetite for the genre and its variations. The fact of replaying the same global theme but differently pleases me. For me, that’s where the challenge and the excitement of getting there or not lies (…) In criminal intrigue, thugs are more inspired by real people than police officers, in terms of trajectories.”
“But these police officers of the series remain probable. The humor and joie de vivre of this group of young people matches these amazing police officers. And we don’t usually see these policemen from that angle in other fiction.“
