“The current situation is grim,” British Columbia Premier David Ivey said on the 19th (local time). An evacuation order had been issued for about 20,000 people until the previous day, an increase of 15,000 in one day.
“An additional 30,000 people have been warned to evacuate,” Ibi said.
The additional evacuation orders have been issued as wildfires are out of control and penetrating the interior of British Columbia.
The Trans-Canada Highway, which connects Canada from east to west, was closed between the neighborhoods of Chase, about 400 kilometers northeast of Vancouver, and the towns of Hope and Leighton, 150 kilometers east.
In West Kelowna, a state close to the US border to the south, fires have been raging for days, devouring hills and mountains near the town.
Wildfires have already burned 140,000 square kilometers, the size of the entire state of New York, and burn thousands of homes.

A state of emergency was declared in British Columbia the day before.
Due to strong winds and dry weather, existing forest fires spread quickly, making it difficult to extinguish, and new forest fires are emerging here and there.
“We’re still in a really dry situation,” said Gerard Schroeder, deputy fire chief for Kamloops in the southern state. “There are going to be more difficult days ahead.”
Thousands of homes in the state were cut off from electricity.
The wildfires led to support from the federal government as well as 13 countries, and at least four firefighters tragically lost their lives.
The wildfires are expected to continue due to Canada’s widespread drought.
In the midst of this, one person died in a forest fire that broke out the day before in Washington, the United States, which borders British Columbia.
Wildfires in Medical Lake in Spokane County, east of Seattle, have burned and spread more than 200 buildings.
Spokane County declared a state of emergency today, and some residents were ordered to evacuate.
