Although the average house price in Canada has fallen year-on-year, new data Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) show that prices in most major cities have been rising monthly since January.
The average house price in Canada was $716,083 in April, not seasonally adjusted.
According to CREA, housing demand continues to outpace supply across the country. In April, home sales rose by 11.3 percent from the previous month, despite the fact that the number of new properties in Canada remains at a 20-year low.
In addition to markets such as Greater Vancouver and Toronto, other cities such as Calgary, Winnipeg and Montreal have also seen monthly increases in average home prices. Halifax-Dartmouth and Ottawa saw the biggest price increases from March to April at 7.6 and 6.4 percent respectively.
