Canadian pastor arrested for protesting drag queen story time in public libraries

In Canada, Derek Reimer (36) has become a symbol of the fight against drag queens. According Christian Post, the pastor challenges the stories told by men dressed as women to children in Calgary public libraries. To alert public opinion, he therefore preached several times in the street. This earned him three arrests in five weeks. The latest dates back to April 4, five days before Easter. According to his lawyer Ben Allison, he spent the Easter weekend in prison. He would not have respected the conditions of his release on bail.

In an interview with Rebel News, Derek Reimer called his arrest “outrageous”. The pastor claimed he was “about a mile from the Genesis Center (a multi-purpose complex), just preaching, letting people know what was going on there.” According to Calgary Herald, he is being prosecuted on eight counts. Six are for breach of court conditions, one for disturbing the peace and one for mischief.
