Canadian-French Woman Admits to Sending Poison Letters to White House and Law Enforcement Officials

The woman, whose name was not released, will remain under judicial supervision after her release, the US Department of Justice said Thursday.

The 55-year-old woman, who is a dual citizen of Canada and France, has admitted to producing castor oil at her home in the Canadian province of Quebec in September 2020.

She sent letters containing the poison to the White House and law enforcement officials in Texas.

The Ministry of Justice informed that this woman spent several weeks in custody in Texas in 2019 and blamed law enforcement officials.

She has also targeted Trump on social media. In the letter sent to the then president, she called on Trump to withdraw his candidacy for the 2020 presidential election.

The envelope with castor oil addressed to Trump was sent from Canada, but it was intercepted by the US Secret Service and did not reach the White House.

The sender of the envelope was detained in September 2020 while crossing the border in the city of Buffalo, New York, arriving from Canada. She was in possession of a firearm at the time of her arrest.

The prison sentence is part of a plea deal with prosecutors that has now been approved by the court.

In 2013, letters soaked in castor oil were sent to then US President Barack Obama and then New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Castor oil can be fatal even in small doses.
