The director died at his home near Quebec; the cause of death has not yet been revealed.
Jean-Marc Valley was born and raised in the Canadian city of Montreal, where he studied filmmaking.
Initially, he made music videos and short films that earned critical acclaim. Vale’s full-length debut, the 1995 thriller, was also a success “Black list”.

In recent years, Valé has focused more on TV series, such as directing the series “Big little lies”starring Rice Whiterspoon, Nicholas Kidman and Lora Dern.
A few years ago, to a question he liked best in the film industry, Valais answered: “Dreams. Dreams come true. Now I live in a dream. ”
Valais was divorced; sons Alex and Emil mourn his death.
