Next month promises almost countless interesting concerts in Riga. One of them will be on May 6 at the Art Center “Noass”, where the world’s most popular experimental music trio “Big / Brave” from Canada will visit Latvia.
The beginnings of the group “Big / Brave” are considered to be the year 2012, when Robin Wattie and Matthew Bol came together simply to play together and also to experiment with instruments stylistically in the genre of ambient folk. When the two were joined by an old friend, drummer Louis Buryegard, the duo became a full-fledged group, and the sound changed to heavier and noisier music.
The Canadian band currently has a number of studio albums on their account – Feral Verdure (2014), Au De La (2016), Ardor (2017), A Gaze Among Them (2019) and VITAL (2021). , which has received positive feedback from fans of experimental music and also critics. “Music viewers often bring the sound of” Big / Brave “closer to different genres of metal music,” rock “rock, apocalyptic post-rock or give it a laconic designation – experimental rock,” the concert organizers say.
The company “Big / Brave” will be joined on a longer European tour by a Swedish musician with the stage name Fågelle. She represents Swedish experimental music “underground” and in her music, using pedals, synthesizers and her voice, strangely balances the musical expressions between simple noise and pop music.
