ex general You have was charged with sexual assault after months of investigation. The retired general was charged in his homeland, even though he went to Ukraine to fight against Russia.
Quoted from AFP, Thursday (16/6/2022), the office of the Provost Marshal You have in a statement said retired Lieutenant General Trevor Cadieu faced two charges in the past. He was charged with sexual assault in connection with an alleged incident at Canada’s Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario in 1994 when he was a cadet.
Currently, the case is being handed over to the civil prosecutor. This submission is in line with a recent recommendation to help clean up a toxic culture within the Canadian military.
In September last year, Cadieu was previously appointed to lead the Canadian military. However, that appointment was thwarted by an investigation into a sexual assault case.
Cadieu is accused of raping a female student on the campus of the Royal Military College You have. That’s according to Canadian media reports. Cadieu himself has retired from last April.
Meanwhile, Canadian media Ottawa Citizen reported that Cadieu indicated in an email from Ukraine that he had been notified of the charges. He was also said to be “making arrangements to return to Canada from Ukraine.”
