Halloween 2023 has left us with endless images to remember. Few international celebrations generate as many headlines as this one, as celebrities take advantage of the occasion to have fun, dress up and give free rein to their most hidden personalities and tastes.
One of the people who has caused the most stir on the Internet with the outfit she chose for the most ‘scary’ night of the year is Emily Hampshire, a Canadian actress known throughout the world for her performances in successful series such as Ruby Gloom, Schitt’s Creek, Chapelwaite or The Rig.
We’re really curious what you guys think about this one.
Emily Hampshire from Schitt’s Creek dressed up as Johnny Depp, with her friend as Amber. The photo got on TMZ and she was shamed into apologizing, for being tasteless and insensitive.

On October 31, the American artist dressed up as actor Johnny Depp while her friend dressed up as Amber Heard. According to the original idea, both represented one of the most high-profile trials of the year and of the decade.
The actress, unconcerned about whether her outfit could offend someone, uploaded a post to her social networks proudly showing the recreation of the controversial moment. After sharing the post, different media outlets echoed the tasteless costume and thousands of fans of those involved began to write criticism of the actress online, calling her “insensitive” and accusing her of trivializing a serious issue.
The actress, upon seeing the commotion that had formed due to her action, decided to delete the photos from her networks and shared a sincere apology in which she made self-criticism and seemed very sad about how things had happened.
”I want to address what is one of the most insensitive and ignorant things I have ever done. For Halloween, I stupidly thought it would be fun to dress up like Johny Depp and Amber Heard. I am deeply sorry and ashamed for putting something so horrible into the universe. Domestic abuse is never, ever fun. These are real problems with real people and I truly regret my actions. In the future I will do better. “I’m sorry,” the actress wrote in a statement posted on her official Instagram account.
Many found it funny
Although the artist wanted to apologize to all those people who felt offended and reconsidered dressing up in something related to such a complicated cause for Halloween, many people found the costume funny and have commented on the apology post supporting her.
It must be remembered that the trial between the former couple became a topic of global conversation and that those involved suffered a lot during the process, since they accused each other of harassment, domestic violence, defamation, etc.
