Canada’s Severe Wildfires Bring Smoke and Pollution to New York City

Severe wildfires continue in Canada. How report authorities of the country, as of June 7, 414 forest fires were recorded, 239 of which are spreading uncontrollably. The area covered by fire territories – 3.8 million hectares. For more than a week now, smoke from fires in Canada has been engulfing cities in the US. On Tuesday, June 6, New York topped the list of cities with the highest levels of air pollution of any major metropolitan area in the world. Local schools and other educational institutions cancel scheduled outdoor activities. The sky over New York turned gray and dull orange. New York Mayor Eric Adams urged residents to wear masks on the street and, if possible, stay indoors with closed windows. This is what New York looks like now.
