Canada’s Developing Projects and Links with Eastern Cuba, Highlighted during ExpoHolguín-2023 Trade Fair

This was demonstrated during the presentation of the commercial counselor of the Canadian embassy in Havana, Ada Luz Rodríguez, who during the ExpoHolguín-2023 Fair presented a review of the developing projects of that nation in Cuban territory.

In particular, the diplomat made reference to the links between Canada and this eastern province, which place it as one of the most commercially important for that country, among them she highlighted nickel production in the municipality of Moa, where the Sherritt International Corporation is present in the company Pedro Soto Alba.

He also highlighted that Holguin is the second most important tourist pole for his nation, after Varadero, and here, they also have an honorary consulate on Guardalavaca beach.

The commercial counselor mentioned the interest in promoting and supporting gender equality, so in this sense they are inserted in the project Strengthening Leadership and Participation of Women in the Renewable Energy sector in Cuba, which has a budget allocated of about seven million dollars, for a period of five years.

These are some of the reasons that made Canada the guest of honor country of the 16th edition of the ExpoHolguín-2023 Trade Fair, whose opening was chaired by the ambassador of that nation, John Geoffrey Gartshore.

Precisely, Geoffrey Gartshore announced his intentions to return to this territory at the end of April, with the purpose of strengthening relations with the Chair of Canadian Studies of the University of Holguín.

In the same way, he expressed interest in supporting the growth and consolidation of the new economic actors throughout the country and specifically with those of this territory, among the most populated on the island.

Until next day 7, the eastern province of Holguín hosts around a hundred national and foreign businessmen with the aim of establishing new businesses and showing the diversity of potential of the business fabric of the territory.
