Canada, Senegal, and Costa Rica Discuss Social and Solidarity Economy at United Nations for Sustainable Development Goals

Since Monday, July 17, the ministerial segment of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development has been held at the United Nations headquarters in New York, an opportunity for Canada, Senegal and Costa Rica to meet, after the World Forum organized in Dakar last May, to discuss social and solidarity economy and sustainable development goals.

For Senegal, it is the Minister in charge of the social and solidarity economy, Victorine Ndeye, who took part this Tuesday in the parallel session on the theme “how to take advantage of the social and solidarity economy to advance sustainable development goals”. On this occasion, Minister Victorine Ndeye returned extensively to the progress of Senegal which, as a reminder, has had a law on the social and solidarity economy since June 2021, the minister said.

Mrs. Victorine Ndeye also supported the urgent need to strengthen partnerships between actors, public institutions, private companies and civil society.

During this panel, the various speakers did not fail to salute the role played by Senegal in the promotion of the Social and Solidarity Economy, especially in the context of the adoption of the United Nations resolution last April .
