Canada will relax some of the covid-19 restrictions imposed on travelers arriving from abroad starting Monday but will maintain the need to wear masks on planes, trains and cruise ships, the Canadian government announced on Friday.

The country’s health authorities announced that as of Monday, children under 12 who are not vaccinated will no longer need a negative covid-19 test to enter the country.
Additionally, international travelers vaccinated with the full schedule will not need to submit an isolation plan during their stay in Canada.
Vaccinated travelers arriving from abroad will also not have to wear a mask in public spaces during the first fourteen days of returning to the country, as is currently mandatory.
The new measures were announced this Friday by the Public Health Agency of Canada (ASPC).

The director of the ASPC, Dr. Theresa Tam, explained that Canada will maintain the obligation to use masks between planes, trains and cruise ships for the time being. In the United States, a judge lifted this obligation this week.
Tam stated that the number of cases of the BA.2 omicron variant continues to rise in Canada and that the mandatory use of masks on planes, trains and boats “is one of the least intrusive measures” that provides an additional layer of protection.
