Led by its two best players, Denis Shapovalov and Félix Auger-Aliassime, Canada defeated Russia, defending champion of the event (2-1). Denis Shapovalov had paved the way for Canada by dominating in three sets Roman Safiullin 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 in 2 hours and 39 minutes of play before Daniil Medvedev corrected Félix Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 6 -0 in just 69 minutes of play to allow the Russians to equalize. It all happened in the decisive double, which pitted the four players who had taken part in the singles against each other and at the end of a breathtaking super tie-break, it was the Canadians who won their ticket to the final (4-6, 7–5, 10–7). Canada will meet Spain in the final this Sunday, January 9.
