Moscow. June 10th. INTERFAX.RU – Canada is imposing sanctions on a number of individuals and businesses that, according to Ottawa, are trying to destroy cultural sites and institutions in Ukraine, according to the Canadian Foreign Ministry.
“Canada is imposing sanctions on 24 individuals and 17 entities (…) as part of its special economic measures provisions,” reads a post published on site Foreign Ministry of Canada message.
In particular, the sanctions list includes former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and his son Alexander, Minister of Culture of the Kherson region Alexander Kuzmenko, former First Deputy Minister of Information of the DPR Daniil Bezsonov, blogger Yuri Podolyaka and journalist Igor Druz.
A number of museums in Crimea, Mariupol and Melitopol, regional ministries of culture, education and science also made the list.
Earlier, Canadian television reported on the imposition of sanctions by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for alleged support of Russia’s actions in Ukraine, without specifying either the names or the names of organizations.
On Saturday, the Canadian prime minister announced the allocation of another tranche of financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 500 million Canadian dollars ($375 million). In addition, he noted that Canada would take part in the training of Ukrainian pilots.
Trudeau and Canadian Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland arrived in Kyiv on Saturday for an unannounced visit.
