UTICA – The Czech women’s ice hockey players lost 0:5 to Canada at the world championships in Utica and claimed their second consecutive defeat without scoring a goal. After they failed on Saturday against the reigning champions from the USA, today they were not enough even for the defending silver medalists.

The Canadians built a decisive three-goal lead in the first period, in which they had an overwhelming advantage. Kristin O’Neill scored their win with two goals and an assist.

The overseas players entered the match excellently and in the 2nd minute Stacey hit the post. A few seconds later, the goalkeeper Peslarová was no longer so lucky and the promptly arriving Serdachnyová put Canada in the lead. The Czechs then luckily survived two setbacks, but in the 9th minute they cashed in with a signaled numerical advantage. O’Neill prevailed for the first time.

The Canadians had an overwhelming advantage and almost did not let the Czech team out of the defensive zone. Although they did not use another power play, O’Neill scored again in the first period.

At the turn of the first and second half, the Czechs played a power play for the first time, but they did not threaten goalkeeper Desbiensová. The picture of the game did not change, but Peslarová no longer had to face so many shooting attempts by her opponents. In the 25th minute, however, Fastová beat her from the blue line.

Only then did the Czechs create their first chance. Vanišová could have reduced in the 32nd minute, but she did not end the break ideally. Despite the minimum work, Desbiensová was attentive and in the third period managed to deal with Šapovalivová’s attempt.

Peslarová also caught well, but she conceded again in the 46th minute when Stacey overcame her after a separate action. Two thousand fans never saw another goal. The Czechs clearly lost their second match against Canada, their first matchup at last year’s WC ended 1:5.

The last meeting in the basic group awaits the Czech team on Tuesday, when they will meet Switzerland from 21:00 CET.

The Swedish women’s hockey players achieved their third consecutive victory at the World Cup in Utica, USA. On Sunday, they convincingly defeated Japan 6:2 and with a full number of points and a score of 17:4 they are at the head of the B-group.
