The estate recreates a Wild West town with: a sheriff’s office and two jail cells, a saloon with a full-service bar and arcade, a blacksmith shop, a stable, a bank and a carpentry shop.
An iconic ranch
The film Unforgiven (Merciless), directed in 1992 by Clint Eastwood, was one of the most critically acclaimed westerns in the 90s. Awarded with four Oscars (best film, best director, best supporting actor and best editing), the film is been selected for conservation al National Cinema Register from Library of Congress.
It was also a major commercial success, grossing $159 million on a $14.4 million budget. Eastwood, one of the most famous movie cowboys of his generation, made this film to establish a reflection on the western genre and to reflect introspectively on his own work in this field. He dedicated the film to his mentors Sergio Leone (director of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly) and Don Siegel (director of Inspector Harry) and has long said it would be his last Western.
$19.2 million to acquire this exceptionally preserved site
Unforgiven’s main city setting, Big Whisky, has been completely preserved within a sprawling Alberta domain, known as Ranch at Fisher Creek, and hosted Eastwood, Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman and other stars during filming.
Listed for sale at $19.2 million (C$25.5 million), the ranch covers 195 acres and includes, in addition to the film set, a large main lodge, several guest cabins, an equestrian arena at covered and a lake with a boathouse.
The Wild West town features a sheriff’s office with two jail cells, a saloon with a full-service bar and arcade, a blacksmith shop, stables, a bank and a carpentry shop. The ranch owners also added a white church with a steeple to the original set. Each building is fully functional and habitable, unlike many film sets which are just facades for filming.
A ranch with a wild soul, at the foot of the Rocky Mountains
Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the ranch’s main lodge combines hardwood with steel and stone to create a rugged soul aesthetic. The interiors offer 1,142 m2, with five bedrooms, eleven bathrooms, seven fireplaces and a large dining room.
Six beautiful guest houses are connected to the main lodge by elevated walkways that meander through the ranch grounds. Divided into 17 suites, the units can be used for family guests or managed for business.
The 10+ acre lake features a waterfall and private boathouse and can be used for both recreation and rainbow trout farming.
The estate’s superb equestrian facilities include a five-stall stable, indoor arena, high-end riding arena with observation room and veterinary practice. The addition of a helipad makes this ranch the perfect retreat for a VIP buyer.
Located near the expansive Banff National Park recreation complex and many provincial parks, The Ranch at Fisher Creek enjoys majestic views of the mountains and towering pines around to give a taste of the Old West.
It’s about an hour from Alberta’s largest city, Calgary. Home to the largest rodeo in the world, Calgary has preserved its traditional heritage but also boasts a thriving economy thanks to the energy, technology and aerospace sectors. It has the highest number of millionaires per capita of any city in Canada.
