The Government of Canada approved this Friday the purchase by the airline WestJet Group of his rival Sunwing Airlines y Sunwing Vacationssubject to strict terms and conditions.
Among them are the obligation to maintain capacity on the routes most affected by the merger and the improvement of baggage management, as reported in a statement by Transport Canada, the aviation regulatory body in the country.

“We are pleased that the regulatory review of the transaction has been completed. We thank the Minister of Transport and the Competition Commissioner, as well as the staff of Transport Canada, the Office of Competition and the Canadian Transport Agency, for their efforts in reviewing the transaction,” said Angela Avery, Executive Vice President and General Manager of People, WestJet Group Business and Sustainability.
