Toronto| Canada allows those on a visitor visa to apply for a work permit without leaving the country. A work permit is issued to those who are offered a job in Canada. Canada had already issued a work permit. However, the grace period has ended today. It was extended for another two years.
Work permits will be issued to visitors till February 25, 2025. Previously, there was a condition that those who came to Canada on a visit visa had to leave the country in order to get a work permit. This is now a concession.
Canada is facing a massive labor shortage post-Covid. It is estimated that there are about 10 lakh job vacancies in Canada.
