Uzone.id – After dozens of years of maintaining the Lightning port, Apple has finally used the USB-C connector on the iPhone 15 Series. The question is, because USB-C is a universal port, can you charge the iPhone 15 using an Android smartphone cable?
The introduction of the USB-C port as a connector for the iPhone 15 Series really stole attention. Apple’s move to follow the wishes of the European Union is seen as a step forward in compatibility and user comfort.
Previously, Apple fanboys had to carry more than one cable to charge their iPhone, iPad and MacBook, now with the USB-C port on the latest generation iPhone, one cable can be used to charge all gadgets.

However, the presence of a USB-C port on the iPhone 15 Series also raises questions and sparks debate. Actually, whether you can charge the iPhone 15 Series using an Android cable or not, even if you can, is it safe?
Quoted from Gizmochina, This question is a concern for several official Apple stores in China. Apparently, these stores recommend that users do not use Android cables to charge the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro Max.
The reason is, there is a possibility that the device is experiencing overheat during the charging process. Allegedly, there is a slight difference between the USB-C cables built into the smartphone Android and iPhone.
The difference is in the pin arrangement, where there is a small gap between the single row 9 pin connector and the single row 11 pin connector, causing suspected problems. overheat while charging is in progress.
Apple itself does not clearly state this. On its official website, Apple only explains that users can charge the iPhone 15 Series with a USB-C cable and power adapter that complies with the USB-C standard, including cables with power delivery technology.
“These cables and power adapters are widely available from Apple and other manufacturers. “If you have a 20W USB-C power adapter or a higher wattage USB-C power adapter, you can use it with iPhone for faster charging,” Apple explained.
“You can also charge your iPhone by connecting it to a USB-C port on a computer,” continued the technology giant from Cupertino.
It seems that this recommendation is only an ‘unofficial’ recommendation from several official Apple stores in China. It could be that this is just a way to get iPhone 15 Series users to buy official USB-C cables from Apple in their stores.

However, to be safer, you should look for a USB-C cable that has gone through various tests and meets the USB-IF standard.
Also avoid using cheap USB-C cables, because they may not meet the established standards. Until now, there has been no further comment from Apple.
