PCs that do not meet the requirements to install Windows 11 have the potential to crash.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Microsoft has announced several requirements to be able to install Windows 11 on your computer or PC. Latest report from The Verge, Microsoft will not block if a user tries to install Windows 11 from most old PCs or from systems that don’t meet the official requirements.
That means people running Windows 10 on systems that aren’t supported (by Microsoft’s spec requirements) won’t be offered Windows 11 via Windows Update. However, the user can still update if he downloads the ISO file and performs the upgrade or installation manually.
Reported from Ars Technica, Sunday (29/8), this will be a special advantage for PCs that are close to Windows 11 system requirements, such as those running 6th or 7th generation Intel Core CPUs or first generation AMD Ryzen processors.
This chip lacks support for some esoteric optional security requirements. However, the chip can meet performance and Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 requirements and still get modern DCH driver support from Intel, AMD and most PC OEMs.
Microsoft actively recommends that users do not run Windows 11 on any system that does not meet the official support criteria. According to data from PCs running Insider Preview builds, Microsoft says PCs that don’t meet the requirements have 52 percent more kernel modes crash than a PC that meets the requirements. Additionally, first-party apps fail 43 percent more often on unsupported hardware.
However, allowing users to make their own decisions is arguably what companies should have done in the first place—people who aren’t looking for Windows 11 updates will never be offered if their hardware isn’t up to par, but sophisticated users, testers and IT departments who want to run the device. the latest software on their computers can evaluate exchanges and make decisions on their own.
Windows 11 installation requirements
Microsoft provides a minimum requirement to install Windows 11, namely PC devices using a 1GHz processor and above, with 2 cores or more. This processor must also run with a 64-bit system in chip (SoC).
Windows 11 requires a minimum of 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage capacity. Meanwhile, for graphics cards, Microsoft requires that are compliant with DirectX 12 and later generations, which have the WDDM 2.0 driver. Windows 11 uses UEFI system firmware and Secure Boot capabilities. For the screen, a high definition display of 720 pixels above 9 inches diagonally and 8 bits per color is required.
