WhatsApp does not let you know if you have been blocked by someone. But there are signs. This impossibility is assumed for reasons of confidentiality.
You no longer have news from a contact, despite the messages you send him regularly on WhatsApp? Maybe it’s because it blocked you on instant messaging. Unfortunately for you, you won’t be able to find out for sure just using the mobile app. WhatsApp has decided to hide this information.
In its help pages, the subsidiary of Meta (ex-Facebook) indicates that it is a deliberate choice, precisely for the purposes of confidentiality. If you make the decision to stop receiving messages or calls from someone, you don’t want WhatsApp to tell them what you’ve done. However, the service offers this protection not only to you, but to everyone as well.
Clues to know if you’ve been blocked on WhatsApp
In general, WhatsApp is committed to providing you with privacy options that allow you to hide your online status or “seen” status when reading a message. These options work according to the principle of reciprocity: if you activate them, you will not be able to see the status and mention of others. If you disable them, you can see them.
However, the signals can be used to detect a block. WhatsApp makes a list of them, which is not exhaustive: calls never go through. The profile picture is no longer up to date. Online presence mentions are hidden (even if you see yours, see above). The double check mark for message delivery is never displayed.
A discussion tool in writing or by phone, WhatsApp contains functions that allow you to do more: you can share your location in real time or transmit an ephemeral photo.
