CAN U-23: victory for Syli over Congo despite the penalty missed by Algassime

RABAT- Guinea took the three points of victory on Tuesday against Congo during the second day of the group stages of the African Cup of Nations reserved for the under-23s. The Syli U-23 recovered from their inaugural defeat by beating Congo (3-1) at the Prince Moulay-Abdallah stadium in Rabat.

While the Syli National Espoir had opened the scoring through Aguibou Camara from the start of the match in the 10th minute of play, the Guinea U-23 team was caught by its counterpart from Congo. Just before half-time, the Red Devils of Congo found the fault (1-1) following a misunderstanding from the Guinean defense, Yann Kouori equalized for Congo in the 40th minute. The score remained 1-1 at the break.

On returning from the locker room, the Guineans will score following a goal against his camp from the Congolese defense (2-1, 54th minute). After the hour of play, Guinea will get a penalty missed by Algassime Bah. This penalty follows the red card obtained by the Congolese goalkeeper who committed a nasty foul on a Guinean player in the penalty area. And Salifou Soumah will definitely kill the suspense by scoring the third Guinean goal in the 84th minute of play. Despite the pressure imposed by the Congolese at the very end of the match, the Syli will resist until the final whistle and thus offer themselves their first 3-1 victory in this tournament.

After this precious success, Guinea, which is not yet mathematically qualified with its 3 points, will play its survival against Ghana on the last day scheduled for June 30. In the second hour at 8 p.m., Morocco plays against Ghana in the other match of this group A.
