CAN U-23: The Red Devils Ready for the Competition
Africa-Press – Congo Brazzaville. For their first participation in the final phase of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) from June 24 to July 8 in Morocco, the Red Devils under 23 want to try a masterstroke. The competition is a qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
After eight days of training in Casablanca, the Red Devils U-23 completed their preparations at the start of the week by drawing 0-0 against the Pharaohs of Egypt. This was a good sparring partner since in February, in a friendly match, the Congolese had lost 0-2 against the same team in Egypt. Tactical readjustments were made to counter the Egyptians. The training camp allowed the team to better evaluate themselves before their entry into the competition on June 25 against the selection of Ghana. Two days later, the Red Devils will play against Guinea before completing the group stage on June 30 against hosts Morocco.
“We will play this competition with the clear desire to win. I am aware that we are in a very tough group, but I believe that Congo has the ability to compete against Morocco. I want this first attempt to be a masterstroke. I have a team capable of beating any other. We will fight with our means and let the God of football decide,” said Cyrille Donga, the coach.
It is important to note that the CAN U-23 puts eight teams in competition divided into two groups of four. The other group will feature Egypt, Mali, Gabon, and Niger. The top three teams from each group will qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris.

Title: U-23 Red Devils Poised for African Cup of Nations Challenge
Africa-Press – Congo Brazzaville. In their inaugural appearance at the African Cup of Nations (CAN), scheduled from June 24 to July 8 in Morocco, the U-23 Red Devils are determined to make a strong impression as they vie for qualification to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Following an intensive eight-day training camp in Casablanca, the U-23 Red Devils concluded their preparations with a goalless draw against the Egyptian national team earlier this week. This friendly encounter proved beneficial, given that the Congolese team had suffered a 0-2 defeat against Egypt in a previous match held in Egypt in February. Tactical adjustments were made to counter the Egyptian side, and the training camp allowed the team to assess their capabilities ahead of their opening match against Ghana on June 25. Two days later, the Red Devils will face Guinea, followed by a group stage clash against hosts Morocco on June 30.
“We are entering this competition with a determined will to win. Although we find ourselves in a challenging group, I firmly believe that Congo has the ability to compete against Morocco. I hope this debut appearance will be a resounding success. With a team capable of triumphing over any other, we will fight with all our might and trust in the will of the football gods,” expressed Cyrille Donga, the coach.
It is worth noting that the CAN U-23 tournament features eight teams, divided into two groups of four. The other group includes Egypt, Mali, Gabon, and Niger. The top three teams from each group will secure qualification to the Olympic Games in Paris.
