TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – Elderly susceptible to disease dementia alzheimer’s. The disease is usually found over the age of 65 years.

Dementia Alzheimer Dementia is defined as a physical decline in the brain that affects emotions, memory and decision making and is commonly called senile dementia.

But regarding this, can people with dementia receive the COVID-19 vaccination?

Here’s an explanation according to experts.

“The answer is yes it is safe (covid-19 vaccine) for ODD,” said Michael during a virtual event, Saturday (11/9/2021).

However, there are several things that must be considered before parents or the elderly get the COVID-19 vaccine apart from being in a stable body condition.

For families who have elderly it is important to pay attention to comorbidities or medical history.

Because according to Michael, prior consultation with a doctor is an important key to getting the elderly with dementia to get the vaccine.

“Here, it is also necessary from the family side to pay attention to comorbidities, whether there is a history of diabetes, or hypertension that needs to be controlled first,” he said.

“Oxygen saturation, blood pressure and so on need to be consulted first to a doctor or family,” he continued.

Michael explained several actions to reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s or senile dysmensia, including doing regular exercise, adopting a healthy diet, consuming balanced nutrition, exercising the brain regularly, thinking positively, and doing productive activities.
