Can Minor Stroke Be Cured? This is what the cardiologist says

Jakarta

When getting a diagnosis of a minor stroke, many sufferers and those around them are worried about whether a minor stroke can be cured? The reason is, this condition at first glance is no different from the usual stroke symptoms that look worrying.

A minor stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA) is a temporary period of symptoms similar to a stroke. This condition generally lasts only a few minutes and causes no permanent damage. About one in three people who have a minor stroke will have a regular stroke within half or a year of developing the condition.

Quoted from the Mayo Clinic, most signs and symptoms will disappear within one to 24 hours. Likewise, the symptoms are similar to ordinary strokes, such as weakness or paralysis, slurred speech, blindness in one or both eyes, to vertigo. Therefore this condition should not be underestimated and should receive further treatment.

Can Minor Stroke Be Cured?

According to a heart and blood vessel specialist from Siloam Hospital, Dr. Vito Damay, SpJP(K), MKes, AIFO-K, FIHA, FICA, FAsCC, a minor stroke can restore the function of his previously paralyzed hands or feet.

Even so, Dr. Vito said that conditions like this need to be ascertained first regarding the cause. Is it because of heart rhythm disorders that can make blood clots or narrowing of blood vessels due to high blood or cholesterol.

“A mild stroke, you can recover the function of your hands or feet that were previously paralyzed. But you have to find out what the cause is, is it a heart rhythm disorder that can cause blood clots or constriction of blood vessels due to high blood pressure and cholesterol?,” he said when contacted by AFP on Friday (29 /7/2022).

Dr. Vito also emphasized that this condition cannot be underestimated and must be prevented. This is because minor strokes can occur repeatedly, even more severe.

“It must be prevented, because minor strokes can be repeated and can be more severe,” he continued.
