Suara.com – To astronomer predict what will happen to life on Earth upon death Sun.
This research was published in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.
The team of astronomers calculated how the intensity solar wind will evolve over the next five billion years, when the Sun will eventually run out of hydrogen fuel energy.
The solar wind is currently hitting Earth at a speed of about 1.6 million kilometers per hour.

Luckily, Earth has a magnetic shield that bends the solar wind so that less wind can penetrate Earth’s atmosphere.
However, the new research shows that Earth’s magnetic shield is not always strong, while the solar wind will get stronger as the star nears its death.
When that happens, the solar wind will be so strong that it can erode Earth’s magnetic shield.
After that, most of Earth’s atmosphere will be blown out into space.
If that happens, then any life on Earth will be destroyed.

“In the past, the solar wind eroded the Martian atmosphere. What we didn’t expect was that the solar wind in the future could damage planets even protected by magnetic fields,” said Aline Vidotto, astrophysicist at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland.
