VACCINATION is an effort to protect oneself from certain viruses or diseases. Similarly, to protect against the virus that causes Influenza, it turns out that the Influenza vaccine can be done.
However, in the midst of a pandemic Covid-19 Of course, someone also has the opportunity to get sick with influenza and Covid-19 at the same time. So is it possible to vaccinate Covid-19 with influenza at the same time?
According to Prof. Dr. dr. Iris Rengganis, SpPD, K-AI, Internal Medicine Specialist, Allergy Immunology, said that someone who wants to vaccinate influenza with Covid-19 must be paused for about 28 days or 1 month.
He explained, the influenza vaccine can be done after vaccination with a complete dose of Covid-19 (1 and 2) with a gap of at least 1 month or 28 days. Aims to avoid vaccine AEFIs or side effects after vaccination.
“We are still seeing side effects or we only see the side effects after 28 days of worrying about a slow phase,” said Prof Iris in the Flurona webinar, Tuesday (15/3/2022).
Furthermore, he explained that one of the countries that could carry out an influenza vaccine together with Covid-19 was the United States. According to him, the US is a vaccine producer or maker so it has its own vaccine specifically for flu and Covid-19 (Flurona).
Meanwhile, Indonesia is a country that has not produced vaccines but has purchased vaccines. So we are still considering by looking at the side effects or AEFI vaccine from Covid-19.

“We can’t give it simultaneously because we are still following the goal 28 days after the vaccine. Because we are new to this vaccination, we are not the vaccine maker, we are buyers of the vaccine (Covid-19) so we are still seeing side effects,” he explained.
