Existence Lord and proof of His existence by science always a pretty interesting thing and often to be discussed. One of them is the discussion raised by Ethan Siegel, an astrophysicist and science communicator in an article in Forbes on January 20, 2017.
The answer to this news title is YES. According to Siegel, there are many things that could be evidence of the existence of God. One of them is a series of ‘coincidences’ that happen to life on Earth:
- We are at the right distance from the Sun so its temperature is conducive to life.
- Earth has the right atmospheric pressure for water to melt at the surface
- We have the right ingredients and the right balance between heavy elements and organic molecules for life to exist
- We have just the right amount of water that our world has oceans and continents
- And the process of the formation of the Earth began much earlier before humans were present.
If we look at other planets that we know of, the differences are stark. Is all of the above a mere coincidence?
Let’s go into more detail below:
1. Scientifically, what conditions do we need for life to exist?
The question of the distance between the Earth and the Sun is very appropriate. What if we are too close to the center of the galaxy? Wouldn’t a high level of supernova’s ‘burn’ the Earth and destroy it life? What if we didn’t have a planet like Jupiter to clear the asteroid belt; aren’t there a lot of asteroids that fly towards Earth and will wipe out any life?
“And what about the fact that we are here now, when the Universe was relatively young? Many stars will live for trillions of years, but we ‘only’ have about a billion or two more before our Sun is hot enough to boil our oceans.” Siegel said.
Now let’s talk about asteroids. Earth has a friend named Planet Jupiter, who knows how many times it has been a shield for dangerous asteroids.
Without Jupiter-like planets, would asteroids endanger the life of Planet Earth? The answer could be no, but it could be yes. So you could say, the presence of Planet Jupiter in the right position is probably the savior of life on Earth — God certainly thinks far beyond human reasoning.
Then lastly, humans are present at the right time at the right time Earth livable. Many potentially habitable planets have been discovered where life may be 7 to 9 billion years old. It could be that humans on Earth are not the first civilization in this vast universe, or that it has only been us all this time. The conditions we need for life to arise, as far as we can measure, seem to exist throughout the galaxy, and perhaps even the entire universe.
