Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is a disease caused by the dengue virus that is carried by mosquitoes temples of the Egyptians. This disease usually occurs in children because their immune system is not yet fully formed.
Although it is often associated with the rainy season, dengue can occur in all seasons. Once infected, the virus will attack various components of the body, starting from the blood, cardiovascular organs, up to the infection in the brain.
If not managed properly, dengue fever can cause death. This occurs when a person goes into shock during the surveillance phase.
“At a severe level, dengue fever can cause death. Meanwhile, dengue fever at a mild level does not carry a risk of death,” said pediatrician Dr. Mira Dewita, Sp.A, at You have Bunda, recently.
Method of transmission of dengue
Quoting from the WHO website, dengue fever is mainly transmitted by mosquitoes temples of the Egyptians scattered in tropical countries. Female mosquitoes spread the virus through bites after becoming infected when they drink the blood of an infected person.
After about a week, the mosquito can transmit the virus by biting a healthy person. Mosquitoes can fly up to 400 meters in search of containers filled with water to lay their eggs, but stay close to human habitation.
Can DHF be transmitted through saliva?
WHO has revealed that dengue fever cannot be transmitted directly from human to human, mother. Therefore, DHF cannot be transmitted through saliva.
Even so, someone who is infected and suffers from dengue fever can transmit the virus to other mosquitoes that bite them.
Humans are known to carry infections from one country to another or from one region to another during the stage where the virus circulates and reproduces in the blood system.
