Can an unvaccinated person seek treatment at the hospital in an emergency?

From August, the health pass will be compulsory in hospitals and clinics, “except in emergencies”.

All patients receiving care in a health establishment, accompanying persons, as well as people visiting a loved one must present, in digital or paper version, this document attesting to a complete vaccination schedule or a negative test (PCR or antigenic) less than 48 hours.

However, this obligation will not apply to medical emergencies. A person whose condition requires immediate treatment in a hospital center can be treated, even if they have not been vaccinated or do not have a recent negative test, clearly specifies article 1 (paragraph 11) of the bill relating to the management of the health crisis.

Are affected by the health pass “except in an emergency, health, social and medico-social services and establishments, for only people accompanying or visiting people accommodated in these services and establishments as well as those accommodated there for scheduled care ”.

Brigitte Bourguignon, Minister Delegate in charge of Autonomy with Olivier Véran, underlined in the hemicycle that “in the event of care scheduled in advance, the person has time to take a test to protect others if she has conditions not met to be vaccinated ”. But “in an emergency, there is obviously no need for a pass,” she confirmed.
