SIGIJATENG.ID – PLWHA are people with (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) or a virus that attacks the body’s immune system causing a condition called AIDS (Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome), which is a syndrome or set of disease symptoms due to a decrease of the immune system.
People with human immunodeficiency virus acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) should not feel inferior or fearful of marrying someone of the opposite sex. Report from one of the national media, Dr. Elfi Yennie MARS, head of the health bureau of Batanghari district, Jambi, said strongly that people living with HIV/AIDS can get married.
However, the couple must pay attention to a number of things that must be done during intercourse so that HIV/AIDS is not passed on to the newly weds.
There are three categories of HIV/AIDS transmission. First through blood, second through sexual fluids, and third from mother to child (vertical).
Couples infected with HIV/AIDS are encouraged to use condoms during sex. Until now, the HIV/AIDS problem persists and needs serious attention.
To find out if someone is infected with HIV/AIDS, a VCT test is needed. The same VCT test can be performed en masse, in a mobile way and also for patients who come for treatment, both at Puskesmas and at the hospital.
If clinical signs of HIV/AIDS are found or suspected, the patient is advised to undergo a test. So the test can be done voluntarily on community initiative, it can also be initiated by our officers because they see these signs.
If there is a case of HIV/AIDS in a husband or wife, the couple should get a TVC test immediately so it doesn’t spread to other partners or family members.
Triple screening is also mandatory for pregnant women. Triple screening for pregnant women is the first to detect HIV/AIDS, the second to detect syphilis, and the third to detect hepatitis B. If the test results are positive, the mother will need to receive assistance and supervision so that during delivery it is safe and does not infect the baby. .
HIV-positive mothers are not recommended to breastfeed directly because there is a potential for transmission. According to Elfi, after giving birth to her first child, the mother can still give birth to the second and subsequent children.
The HIV AIDS problem in all patients must be managed according to the standard, and there is already a reference for treatment. The drug is from the Ministry of Health for the HIV AIDS program and is called Anti Retro Viral.
