A brave new world. Can it be possible?
[email protected]
Could there be a brave new world right now? As Aldous Huxley described in his satire, there have always been unconscious and ignorant people.
But can those who are not happy feel happy in this time of war, injustice and disproportion? If people have evaluated their own circumstances and are clear of conscience, happiness is possible, starting from the struggle.
Otherwise, what has been proposed would not be possible. The great characters in history who fought for a goal had to possess the satisfaction of that fight, because otherwise it would be difficult. We do not imagine sulking and annoying beings, fighting for the freedom of a people.
The same thing happens in the real lives of ordinary beings. Those who live coherence in their lives, with respect for others, with a deep search to improve that life, have happiness and seek full happiness. Hopefully the New Year generates many of those types of lives.
ALDOUS HUXLEY OUTLINED A BRAVE WORLD THAT STILL EXISTS
In Brave New World (De Bolsillo 2003), the famous book by Aldous Huxley whose title was taken from a dialogue from Shakespeare’s The Tempest, people’s happiness lies precisely in their ignorance. The leaders of the so-called Fordian era, as Huxley calls the time in which his satire takes place in reference to Henry Ford, the automobile magnate, procreated laboratory beings, with an intelligence according to their capabilities.
It was something like today’s Artificial Intelligence. Deprived of family, science, books, nature, home, those beings were incredibly happy. There was nothing that clouded his existence. They lived in a perfect world, The World State.
IN HUXLEY’S BRAVE NEW WORLD ONLY ONE READ SHAKESPEARE
The satire of the Englishman born in Godalming United Kingdom in 1894, who died in Los Angeles in 1963, involves many characters, Marx, Lenin, Freud, Darwin, Engels, Bonaparte and the omnipresent Shakespeare only read by the savage of the plot.
Huxley, author of more than 40 books (he was in Mexico and his books abound in Mexican, mezcal and sotol), considered one of the great writers of England, wrote Brave New World as a criticism of the runaway industrialization that was experienced in those years , in the thirties of the last century.
It is, however, a futuristic work that takes place in the year 632 and predicts many of the things we are experiencing. Some international music bands have used the work to compose their songs, apart from the many films it has inspired.
It is the prediction of what the world is experiencing today with the technological daze that makes many happy and with the only thing that the Fordians allowed their genes, the game of ball in any expression, as long as it generated consumption. Today we see him in the sports pages managing large millions in the world. Here, many Mexicans are happy: they have soccer
