CAN 2023: “We are doing rehearsals so that our members can play their role” Unse

The Stallions face the Fennecs of Algeria on January 20, 2024 at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké, on behalf of the second day of the African Football Cup of Nations. For this meeting, Hubert Velud and his men can count on the National Union of Stallions Supporters. El hadj Ousseni Tougma and the others repeat the scales in order to allow the supporters to effectively push the Stallions to victory.

L’Economiste du Faso: How is the atmosphere among the supporters?

El Hadj Ousseni Tougouma, President of UNSE: Everything is going well with the supporters. 48 hours before each match, we do a rehearsal to allow members to truly play their role on the day of the match. This is what we did today for the Saturday match.

Some supporters complain about accommodation conditions, what is really happening?

We have announced the conditions of travel from Ouagadougou. The only problem we faced here was accommodation. We had announced 2000 francs per night for the dormitories but when we arrived, we were informed of other prices. We are in the process of finding a solution to this.

How many supporters can we estimate who came with the UNSE?

In addition to the 50 people included in the official mission, we have nearly 200 people who came with the UNSE. Among these people, we are supporting nearly 150 people since we have invited the real supporters of Burkinabè football who we usually meet in the different stadiums, to come and experience the CAN. They will leave after the third match but if our partners help us again, they will be able to stay for the rest of the competition.

The Stallions will face Algeria on January 20, 2024, how do you see this match?

It will be a difficult match to play. When it’s like that, you have to pray to God in order to win the match. This is what happened against Mauritania. The match was tense but towards the end God put his hand and we had the victory. We still pray to God for the same.
