CAN 2023: Mali and Tunisia separate back to back – AGP

Libreville, January 20, 2024 (AGP) – No winner in this meeting at the top of Group E, between the Eagles of Mali and the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.

It is undoubtedly during the third day that everything will be decided in group E. At least, as far as Mali and Tunisia are concerned. The two teams separated this Saturday with a tie score (1-1).

However, things started well for the Malians who scored the first goal of this game, in the 10th minute of play, thanks to a strike after an extraordinary breakthrough from Lassine Sinayoko. The Mali Eagles were caught ten minutes later (20th minute), on a goal from Lecce attacking midfielder in Serie A, Hamza Rafia.

Mali temporarily retains the lead in the group, with 4 points, with Namibia facing South Africa (4th; 0pt) this Sunday.

Tunisia (3rd; 1pt) for its part, recorded its first point and maintains its chances of qualifying for the round of 16 of this 34th edition of the African Cup of Nations which Ivory Coast is hosting.
