Campus Cinema in the Stasi Headquarters: A Journey into the Past of a Lost Country

“In a country that no longer exists” – the “Campus Cinema in the Stasi Headquarters” in Berlin-Lichtenberg starts with the film from 2022 on Monday (August 7) ​​at 7.30 p.m. This open-air canvas is one to keep an eye on!

The free film series in the courtyard, which is supplemented by talks, guided tours and workshops, lasts until August 31st. The films are shown on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and deal with the GDR and the Stasi, repression, the resistance of the opposition or the fates of individual people.

But documentaries such as “Depeche Mode and the GDR” (August 22) or the mockumentary (fake documentary) “Olaf Jagger” (August 21) are also on the program.

Co-organizer Stephan Müller: “Bring an umbrella to be on the safe side, we also have rain ponchos on site, as long as there is no storm warning, the films will be shown.”

Before the performances, visitors can take guided tours of the museum or the former Stasi grounds, after which actors, directors and contemporary witnesses are on site for discussions. Arriving early ensures good seats – there are deckchairs, blankets and you can bring your own drinks.
