Friends and co-workers of Cuban chef Carlos Orta have started a campaign to GoFundMe to cover the funeral expenses of the Antillean, who died on Monday, May 29, after an accident.

According to the information shared on the platform, the 31-year-old Cuban lost his life after a traffic accident near his home, leaving behind his wife and underage daughter.

“Last night we were shocked by the sad news that a friend of ours died after an unfortunate accident. This is Chef Carlos Orta, with whom we had a close working relationship. His family is devastated. Our group has decided to create this account to help with funeral expenses and support his wife and young daughter after this unfortunate loss,” the campaign read.

The petition has the goal of raising $30,000 to help Orta’s family, of which he has already raised nearly $20,000 in just 10 hours.

“We greatly appreciate every donation to help this family. Carlos was an incredible boy, a noble person, very hard-working and with many plans that he had to fulfill. Thanks to the people who send us their prayers and his contribution will be very helpful, ”adds the publication by Lilibet López, who started the campaign.

Orta was known in the Cuban community in Miami for his culinary talent and the dedication with which he wanted to make Cuban cuisine known in South Florida.

The chef was close friends with the show team Hello Ota-Ola! coming to provide food in the events organized by the Cuban presenter Alex Otaola.

The death of the chef has taken many by surprise, who used their social networks to say goodbye to him.

“I deeply regret to inform our friends and colleagues at ‘Le Cordón Bleu’ that our friend and Chef, Carlos Orta, lost his life after an unfortunate accident, leaving behind his wife and little daughter.
