Camille’s mother, found in Switzerland after 11 years on the run, was extradited to France

Priscilla Majani, Camille’s mother found in Switzerland eleven years after her parental abduction in Carqueiranne, was handed over to the French authorities on Tuesday morning, we learned from the child’s father and his lawyer.

Targeted by an international arrest warrant, the former military engineer stationed in the Var had been placed in detention after her arrest on 1is March, thanks to a roadside check, in the region of Lausanne.

The forties had opposed the extradition request made by France, while Camille, now 16 years old, was entrusted to the Swiss organization responsible for the protection of children in the canton of Vaud.

A new trial in Toulon

In recent years, Priscilla Majani has been sentenced in Toulon in particular for “subtraction of a minor” and “slanderous denunciation”, to three and two years in prison, to the prejudice of the father, Alain Chauvet, with whom she was in the process of divorce.

Camille’s mother has already “formed opposition to these judgments”indicates Me Olivier Ferry. A new trial will therefore have to be held before the Toulon Criminal Court.

Priscilla Majani should be presented within forty-eight hours to a judge of freedom and detention, in Toulon, who will rule on a possible incarceration pending this new trial.

The teenager still in Switzerland

“I am satisfied that we can finally submit M Majani to French justice”reacted Me Ferri. “But I am also quite worried about this new ordeal for Alain Chauvet, torn between feelings of suffering and anger…”

It also remains to be seen what will become of the teenager, who had expressed her wish not to be distant from her mother. She still hasn’t agreed to meet her father.

Priscilla Majani abducted her daughter in January 2011 after she was denied sole custody. After having exhausted all remedies, she accused her ex-husband of sexual violence against the girl.

Allegations denied by medical and psychological expertise, which had earned the mother on the run a conviction for “slanderous denunciation”.
