RoyaltyCamilla (73), the Duchess of Cornwall, has faced numerous hatreds since the new season of ‘The Crown’ can be seen on Netflix. In it, she is portrayed as Princess Diana’s crafty love rival.

Although it is well known that Prince Charles and Camilla got to know each other during their childhood and that Camilla has always been the ‘true love’ of the prince, ‘The Crown’ struck a nerve. In the fourth season we see how difficult it is for Diana to adapt to the royal family. Moreover, just about everyone refuses to help her. Diana soon learns that Camilla Parker Bowles is much more than just her future husband’s best friend. Prince Charles is cast in a particularly bad light as a ‘frustrated man’ who never really loved Diana. Instead, he’s constantly on the phone with Camilla, and even cheats.

Bad reputation
Some facts steeped in drama and speculation were the last thing the already unpopular Camilla needed. Just when she and her husband decided to step into the foreground a little more as future royal couple, ‘The Crown’ throws a spanner in the works by opening old wounds. And the viewing public is anything but tender to the Duchess.

When the royals posted a photo of Camilla on their official Instagram page earlier this week, only negative comments poured in: “You tortured Diana from the moment she was engaged to your dear Charles”, it sounds. Or, “You’re a terrible woman who took advantage of Diana’s broken heart.”

Facts twisted
In ‘The Crown’ it is suggested that Charles and Camilla had an affair throughout his entire marriage to Diana. That is unjustified, ”say sources within the palace. Charles had barely any contact with Camilla for the first five years after his marriage, let alone having an affair. He loved her, but he treated Diana with the respect she deserved. He had discussed with Camilla beforehand that their relationship would not continue as long as he was married. She thought that was only correct, and in fact had good contact with the Princess of Wales. ”

‘Princess of Wales’, by the way, is a title that Camilla today – as wife of the prince of Wales – actually is due. However, she refused to be called that because that would remind the public of Diana too hard, and she didn’t want that. “She was terrified to follow in her footsteps, so she was very modest. That is why she now falls under the heading of ‘Duchess of Cornwall’. And yet she is constantly criticized. In fact, Charles and Camilla are equally victims of the royal family. If Charles had been given free choice at the time, he would have married her right away. But because he was not allowed by the royal family, and was forced to marry someone else, Diana came on the scene. Out of respect for her, Charles and Camilla waited years after her death before appearing in public together. Even the Queen acknowledged on their wedding day that everything was ‘finally the way it should be’. ”

“Camilla has received a lot of criticism,” Charles said a while ago about his wife. “People loved Diana, and it was hard to see anyone take her place. But I admire the way my wife dealt with it. She is very strong. ”

The royal family has not yet responded to all the commotion that has arisen after ‘The Crown’. Friends of the couple call the image that is hung ‘harmful’ and ‘ridiculous’. “It’s a game of bullying royals with a Hollywood budget”, it sounds. “The creators of ‘The Crown’ should make it clear in an official statement that their show is complete fiction.”
