(France-Norway 28-28) Camilla Herrem became Norway’s top scorer with six goals during Sunday’s training match against France. Tonight, she continued the trend when the Norwegian handball girls played a draw in their last official match before the Olympic flame is lit on July 23 – after an incredible recovery.

The Norwegian handball girls did not quite get to vote in the first round of the last official match before the Tokyo Olympics start on 23 July. France led the match from the start and went to the break with a lead of 18-10.

What was about to be another superb dress rehearsal for the Olympics by the Norwegian gold candidates, did not look promising in the first 30 minutes. Neither the attacking game nor the defensive game sat, while France seemed to do everything right.

National team coach Thorir Hergeirsson must still have used the break well – the second half started significantly better than the first. After half-time, Norway had equalized France’s lead and seriously played their part in the match. There it loosened up for large parts of the Norwegian team, and Camilla Herrem played great and put almost all the chances she got.
In the end, she finished with seven goals in eight attempts.
This means that she has scored 13 of 15 goals in the last two matches against France – and shows that she is a player to be reckoned with when the Norwegian handball girls fight for the gold in Tokyo.
The goal difference says it all about Norway’s recovery in the second half – the Norwegian handball girls score 18 goals in the second half, against France’s 10 goals. The teams thus won their respective rounds and show good Olympic form.
Both Norway and France are considered among the favorites of precious metal in the Tokyo Games.
The handball girls’ first match kicks off against South Korea on July 25.
