Since 2007, sick children and their parents have traveled annually to Clarence House to decorate the tree with Camilla, who is the patroness of the children’s hospice. The Duchess was very sad that it was not possible last year. “It wasn’t the same without you,” she said when the children arrived. “This is such a special moment for me. It crowns my year.”
After decorating the tree, the guests were treated to mashed potatoes and sausages, laid out on the plate in the shape of a smiley face, and candies. At the end of the visit, Camilla addressed the children. “I just wanted to say that I’m so glad you guys were able to come here today after we missed it last year. I’m really happy to have you back this year.”
