As cancer-stricken King Charles and his wife Queen Camilla wrapped up their 11-day tour of Australia and Samoa, sources said she was deeply affected by the fact His Majesty could soon be gone.
The normally cool-headed Camilla was unable to hold back tears during a traditional farewell ceremony in the Samoan village of Siumu, when the ailing monarch gave a moving speech after receiving the honorary title of To ‘aiga-o-Tumus, which means “Supreme Chief”. “I will always remain devoted to this part of the world and I hope to survive long enough to come back and see you again. We will take with us, I promise you, many special memories from our stay here,” said Charles.
Onlookers spotted Camila’s eyes brimming with tears streaming down her cheeks, although she tried to hide them behind a fan. The poignant words obviously hit the queen hard and reawakened her fears that her husband might soon be gone.
“Deep down in her heart, she fears that Charles is dying and that she will be left to live out the rest of her life alone. How Camilla will cope with royal life without Charles is anyone’s guess. All this must have been going through her mind during his speech. You can see her tears,” a source told the Mirror, the Telegraph reports.
Word in Britain is that Charles doesn’t have much time left. And his frail appearance during the world tour fueled concerns about his health.
Although Charles stopped his cancer treatment during the trip, he showed signs of side effects from chemotherapy, most notably his swollen, inflamed lips.
Charles was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in February after surgery for an enlarged prostate.
