Fans of Camila Cabello can look forward to a new album by the singer. She previously released the song “Bam Bam” with Ed Sheeran. Many fans suspect an allusion to her ex-boyfriend Shawn Mendes.
Camila Cabello stays true to her style. Their new single “Bam Bam” starts with lively beats of an acoustic guitar, builds up and is reminiscent of Latin American sounds in the chorus, to which you just want to shake your hips.
The Cuban-American singer has brought in Ed Sheeran as a musical guest. But does this collaboration even fit? Absolutely. Because Sheeran himself has proven with songs like “New Man” or “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You” that his voice not only suits ballads, but also driving beats. Prior to “Bam Bam,” he also worked with the 25-year-old on his song “South of the Border.”
Is “Bam Bam” a reference to Shawn Mendes?
After the first few lines of the song, many fans agree: “Bam Bam” is about Camila’s ex-boyfriend Shawn Mendes. But what makes her so sure? All you have to do is listen to the first verse: “You said you hated the ocean but you’re surfing now. I said I’d love you for life but I just sold our house. We were kids at the start I guess we’re grown ups now.”
There are already many videos with the song on Tiktok, in which fans upload pictures that match the lines. They also noticed that Cabello is said to have offered the common house of Mendes and himself for sale. So the evidence suggests that “Bam Bam” is actually an allusion to the 23-year-old singer.
Probably the most famous song of the two is “Señorita”, which Cabello and Mendes had released together. But unlike the 2019 summer hit, “Bam Bam” is more about alienation and getting back on your feet. Camila Cabello sings in the chorus: “Yeah, love came around and it knocked me down, but I’m back on my feet.”

The new song will also be found on their new album “Familia”, which will be released on April 8th. The singer announced her third solo album on March 3rd – her birthday. She tells her fans on Instagram and Twitter that the album is very important to her: “It’s my birthday and this album is my whole fucking heart.”
