Brel-Donald Embolo became the hero of the 2022 FIFA World Cup match between Switzerland and Cameroon. A native of Cameroon, who received Swiss citizenship eight years ago, scored the only goal in this match.
It happened early in the first half, when Embolo completed Shaqiri’s perfect cross from the right wing. The attacker had to contain his emotions after the goal, in order not to celebrate the victory with his teammates.
Cameroonians, however, clearly upset this goal – indeed, until the end of the match, they did not create anything dangerous at Sommer’s gates. In turn, Switzerland could increase their lead more than once, but Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana did a great job at the final frontier.
1-0 – Switzerland takes the first step towards the knockout stage of the 2022 World Cup.
