Cameroon’s footballers have successfully entered the 33rd African Cup of Nations (APN). The players of the organizing country defeated the national team of Burkina Faso 2: 1 in the opening match of the championship in Yaoundé.
The home team lost in Sunday’s A-group match from the 24th minute after Gustav Sangaré’s goal. However, they managed to turn the score around during the break, Vincent Aboubakar converted two penalty kicks in seven minutes.
After an hour of play, Aboubakar was able to complete the hat-trick, but the referees did not recognize his goal for the offside after the VAR intervention. Ethiopia will meet Cape Verde at 20.00 CET in the group’s second meeting.
