The National Museum of Cameroon is adopting a Scientific and Cultural Project (PSC). :: Cameroon
It is the very first operational and strategic document which defines the identity and directions of the museum.
Adopted at the end of the second Scientific and Cultural Council of the National Museum of Cameroon held on November 30 at the National Museum. Made up of a Scientific and Administrative team, certain recommendations were formulated among others: the promotion of cultural heritage and research, offering a unifying cultural and economic development tool to Cameroonians, offering a new perspective of the National Museum to Cameroonians and visitors, an aesthetic and educational museography and support for all audiences.
It should be noted that this new, non-fixed document will be reinvented according to the local and unique imperatives of the National Museum.
The work held on November 30 was under the leadership of the Director General of the National Museum, also Vice-President of the Scientific and Cultural Council of the National Museum Hugues HEMEN TCHANA who also appreciates the operationalization of the National Museum for which he has the heavy responsibility charge, because this museum’s primary mission is to serve the interests of Cameroonians from the 10 Regions of Cameroon and its numerous visitors spread across the world.
Let us specify that it is thanks to the support of Expertise France mandated by Mr. ATEBA OSSENDE for the writing of this operational document that this Scientific and Cultural Project (PSC) was compiled into a document of around twenty pages.
Note also that the first Scientific and Cultural Council of the National Museum was held on September 8, 2023, which allowed the development of this document after some suggestions and observed remarks, moreover the training of museum staff was done with the support of Expertise France.

According to the anthropologist, Professor Paul ABOUNA: “this new operational document will bring a new vision of the Museum, improvement of what was done before, the projection of the recommendations of this project in 5, 10, 20 years could be reused by others. other Directors given the quality of the scientific committee and the person who took part in its development.
The integration of themes such as “artistic creation of the 21st century, colonial history, royalty” are being implemented at the National Museum of Cameroon underlines the Director General Hugues HEMEN TCHANA.
