Cameroon :: Sam Severin Ango: The Paragon of Political Transhumance :: Cameroon
A character, Sam Severin Ango, emerges in this tumultuous universe displaying a political flexibility rarely seen. A former journalist, he has just surprised by announcing the creation of his own political party, thus reaching heights in the field of political transhumance.
Sam Severin Ango’s political involvement, after leaving journalism, is characterized by a series of fleeting allegiances, placing him at the center of a sort of political prostitution, according to his detractors. In just five years, he was associated with no less than five different political parties, moving from one to the other without any real attachment.
His political saga began with a brief association with Akere Muna’s Now Movement. After this episode, he tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate the political party “La Nationale”, before making a brief stint at the MRC, at the UNDP where he planned to join the communications department, and at the MCNC of the late Pasteur Ndifor, whose he was the campaign director during the 2018 presidential election. Seeking to make his way into the ruling party, the RDPC, his stint was as fleeting as it was surprising.
Like a political nomad, he then ventured into the Frankist Movement. And today, after a journey through various political groups, Sam Severin Ango announces the gestation of a new party called “The Constructive Renovators”. This shocking announcement was revealed during a program broadcast on December 18, 2023 on Royal Fm in Yaoundé.
Sam Severin Ango, with his atypical political career, raises as many questions as criticism. Could his name be associated with a genuine search for political principle or with opportunistic instability? Political transhumance, a delicate art or a decried opportunism? As the genesis of his new party becomes clearer, eyes remain focused on this man who seems to be redefining the codes of political commitment.
