Moment of reunion for activists and supporters of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC). The public meeting of Maurice Kamto, the national president of the Mrc, at the Camp Sic stadium in Mendong, a district of the sixth arrondissement of Yaoundé, this Saturday, May 06, 2023, started well and ended in serenity.
The surroundings of the site were stormed from 10 a.m. by elements of the police, visibly calm but unpredictable according to local residents. Moreover, a movement of the water launcher of the Gmi made believe for a moment that the public authorities were preparing to repress.
The meeting will experience a delay, not only because of a stop that the procession experienced on the way, because of some Cameroonians who had invaded the course of the national president of the MRC. Several times on the way, we had to stop again to greet the fans who had come out in large numbers, sometimes with banners and to be given a standing ovation.
From Mendong, a procession made up of motorcycle taxi drivers played the sirens to open the way. The presidential motorcade will have difficulty circulating in the city, hordes of sympathizers having decided to surround Maurice Kamto’s vehicle and walk with him to the place of the ceremonies. How many were they? Several thousand disciplined and moved citizens, who knew well that the authorities were waiting for the slightest prank to signal the end of the game. The latter were added to the other thousands of activists, who came from the city by various means or from the departments, through the delegations. They were standing or sitting, under the coordination of the leaders of their various political units. Massed on both sides of the main entrance to the Camp Sic stadium in Mendong, under the watchful eye of volunteers in charge of security, supported by law enforcement and security forces in uniform or not, these activists do not are not tired of waiting for their president for hours.

By installing the regional secretary of the MRC, Dr Elie Djambong and his team, Maurice Kamto invited them to recruit new “political friends” from all strata of the population. The stakes are high for the new office of the regional federation in the Center region. Elected at the head of this federation during the recent internal elections to this political party for the renewal of its basic bodies in this region, Elie Djambong and his team officially took office this Saturday. Their militants and sympathizers, who left all the units of this region to find themselves at the Camp Sic stadium in Mendong, understood that they must integrate the discipline of the party.
