Cameroon News :: Equipping public services to optimize recruitment in businesses in Africa :: Cameroon news

This is the major objective of the 6th training session for employment advisors from public employment services, members of the African Association of Public Employment Services (AASEP), open in Yaoundé since September 11. The work ends next Thursday. The organizers’ idea is to strengthen the potential of public services to optimize recruitment in businesses in Africa, and for public services that contribute to the economy and development.

The observation of the drastic drop in the rate of integration of employees into companies, the absence of companies in which job seekers must be integrated, the difficulty of public employment services in satisfying companies, are all observations which characterize the sector. In short, these are common difficulties encountered by public employment service agents in their different countries.

This is the case of the National Employment Fund (FNE) in Cameroon, whose general director, Camille MOUTÉ BIDIAS, and also honorary president of WAPES, was at the opening ceremony of the work in progress . The main executives of the FNE are also taking part in all of the work, the closing ceremony of which is scheduled for September 21. Depending on their expectations, participants from several countries, including Mali and Chad, place particular emphasis on the search for strategies and palliative means to this lack of performance in the field of public employment service. Everyone agrees that public employment services must significantly contribute to the economy and development.

Participants in the 6th training session for employment counselors from public employment services, members of AASEP, came from Chad, Niger, Benin, Ivory Coast, Guinea Conakry among others. country. For this current session, members of the African Association of Public Services discuss the theme “Employment Advisor (CE) and business relations, an essential lever for the effectiveness of intermediation”. The work is Ceci, coordinated by Sidibé Bréhima Noumbary, and led by Françoise Belinga and Abdoulaye Djaye, both experts in Employment Advisors.

Three main themes on the menu: sharing of experiences and analysis of the problem, building relationships with companies and action plans for the various public employment services. “Depending on the established program, I will do everything to return with as much knowledge as possible and apply it in my country,” confessed Abakar Béchir Wari from Chad. An aspiration shared by all participants in the work in Yaoundé.

However, some are (still) missing

Regarding the absence of several AASEP member countries, among the 20 that make up the organization, the coordinator in Africa, Sidibé Bréhima Noumbary, highlighted the obstacles encountered at several levels. The first being, according to him, linguistic. “Among the 20 countries that constitute AASEP, we have 15 French-speaking countries and 5 countries which speak other languages ​​(English and Portuguese-speaking). We do not have the means to work in all languages. This situation does not favor regional activities like this. It therefore reduces the possibilities for Kenya, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Nigeria to join us”, he regretted. As for Gabon, the political news in this neighboring country of Cameroon was mentioned When work began, the DRC, Djibouti and Senegal were still wanted, for various reasons.

The 6th training session for employment advisors from public employment services, members of the AASEP, benefits from the technical support of the Belgian Thierry HUORT, consultant, member of the World Association of Public Employment Services (AMSEP) . The latter emphasizes the crucial role of intermediation in the search for the effectiveness of public employment services in recruiting in companies in Africa.
